• The project is ordered by the National Roads Company of Israel (MAAZ).

-The project focused on surveying critical roads segments (which can be dangerous for traffic) and making their precise digital models.

-The critical segments are usually characterized with complicated geometry (negative slope, overhanging rocks, crevices and so on), so applying laser scanning technology here is regarded to be appropriate.

-Sometimes, volume calculation of the fragments that are threaten with a fall is a main resultant parameter.

However in most cases the main output consists of a set of cross-section graphs made along the road with an equal step. Each cross section is done perpendicular to the road axis.

The output material formed in DWG (Idan) format is generally accepted in Israel and used for all kinds of road design and reconstruction and construction.

The Project is under realization since 2008.

Specially for working on this direction Drakkar has developed a technology, which comprises all aspects of making field survey and geodetic support, as well as data post processing. The technology can be based on on-ground or mobile laser scanners and provide total productivity up to 30-50 km per one working day.

-The special Drakkar’s software Altexion is used for data processing, which guarantees the final data output rate is equal to raw data acquisition rate. The software provides automatic generation of cross-sections by means of original lidar points clouds for scenes of any complexity. The results are presented in DWG (Idan) format.

-It is essential that Altexion software makes it possible not only making cross-sections, but also delineating break lines and other structural elements. Besides, it allows to estimate real geometrical accuracy of resultant graph.

-The maximum accuracy of asphalt road surface can rise up to 1 cm while Rielg on-ground scanners are used.
