Drakkar took part in archeological excavation near Jerusalem with 3D laser scanning

Drakkar took part in archeological excavation near Jerusalem with 3D laser scanning. The project was headed by the Ancient chair of the University of Haifa. The object was a prehistory human stay dated of about 100 000 years ago. It was commonly regarded to be of a great scientific meaning. A lot of artifacts were discovered such as silicon implements and besides a lot of animal bones. It was believed to be extremely important to make detailed and precise 3D model of all excavated objects and background terrain. So Drakkar ltd. was asked to carry out this job.

The full 3D laser scanning was done by means of Riegl LMS-Z420i with extremely high laser point density (up to 100 points per sq. sm).

As a result of the fulfilled work the customer was provided with:

-          Laser point clouds paintedwith digital photos.

-          The spot TIN model created with Riegl RiDCAN software.

-          Decoded 3D contours of the all objects in real geodetic coordinates.

-          Orthophotomap.

All the data was produced in both Drakkar special software and ArcView format, which makes the data convenient for the further processing.
